Do you ever miss the struggle?
Think about it…when did you feel the strongest… like a mighty conqueror who will take on anything? There is a time for all of us to dig deep down for more than we ever thought we had. When we do this, we change. Sometimes we barely recognize the person we were, like it was another life.
Maybe it was physical training that took every ounce of you, bringing you to a whole new level of physical strength and mental toughness.
Maybe you found yourself in need of a complete reinvention…job, home, friends….
Maybe you suddenly lost what you had always leaned on and found the strength to go it alone.
We know that strength is built right into the struggle, but is it natural that we aren’t as strong when the struggle is over? Is it natural that we become complacent, like it’s time to just rest?
We’ve arrived.
The challenge here is to live with the giant but allow it to rest. Balance. Sometimes we mistake a swinging pendulum for balance and we continually get that “Hero to Zero,” feeling. That mental toughness that is forged in the struggle is always in us but having to dig it up each time we need it can be daunting.
So tell me how you do it? How do you suddenly rise to the occasion? – Is it something you gear up to, or has it become natural for you? Do you power down occasionally? Do you think about past struggles with longing for a challenge? Do you miss the struggle?
(All questions are rhetorical, or not – your choice)
