“Ways we Love”

Valentine’s Day is coming!

When you are blissfully in love Valentine’s Day is wonderful. If your relationship is troubled, the day is awkward at best. When you are single it is the day you REALLY KNOW you are single. This day that many will argue has been perpetuated by the greeting card companies seems to carry an awful lot of weight to so many. Do we give this day too much credit?

Just like love, the day is really what you make it. It’s a day to reflect on all the love and kindness in your life. It’s a little sad that for some it is the only day of the year that an effort is made to express their feelings of love. But it is all the sweeter to the one they love that understands all year that the love is there. For some it’s a couple of cards and a movie at home and that’s ok. For some it’s a time to dress up and have dinner at a fancy restaurant and that’s ok too. For some it’s a night out with a bunch of single friends to celebrate the love of friendship.

Human beings show love in so many different ways. Loving someone and understanding your love together is precious. A glance understood, an apology truly accepted, an intuitive embrace and the knowledge that no matter what, this is your person. These things are love.

This Valentine’s Day I would like to share 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 (ESV) because nobody ever said it better.

4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends.

Happy Valentine's Day!    Celebrate LOVE!
